at
United Medical & Dental College
The Ceremony occurs at United Medical & Dental College (UMDC) for the medical students at the beginning of their Academic Session, First Year MBBS Program, and sets the tone for their commitment to professionalism and humanism. The ceremony signifies the beginning of medical students’ journeys to achieve their education and role as future physicians. It also symbolizes professionalism, caring, and trust, which they must earn from patients. It makes clear to them that now they are joining a group that takes care of patients, and have certain privileges and responsibilities because of the White Coat.
The white coat has been a universally recognized Medical Uniform for decades. It is an easily recognized “Uniform” of the profession that says, “I am a doctor”.
